TECHNICAL DATA

"BURRS"

Cut-Shape-Shank. These are the prime considerations in burr selection. The flute patterns described on the preceding page will give a basic guide to selection. Material removal and finish required will dictate cut selection. Choice of either the double cut or standard with chipbreaker is recommended if unsure of your requirements. Either of these cuts will satisfy most applications. If improvement in either material removal or finish is requires alternate selection is simplified.

The shape-size of the burr is predicated on the type of work to be performed. The complete shapes an a size range of 1/16" through 1" diameter will satisfy your most exacting requirements.

Shank size is important from several areas. Tool deflection and the possibility of breakage are reduced if you select the largest shank possible. Shank standards are 1/8", 1/4" and 3/8". A 3/8" shank is recommended on tolls over 5/8" in diameter, 8mm on 12mm and larger.
